Crypto studies  the tools of formal methods. Cryptography is the study of mathematical techniques related to aspects of providing information security services. Let discuss further about Cryptography. This field could be seen as a branch of applied mathematics, however with strong relations to other fields in secure communication, information theory and computing disciplines in general. Cryptographers work on formal methods in building secure systems of storing and processing information and communicating between its parts, all under the present of adversaries. Most of the time, the main concerns are about constructing and analyzing cryptographic protocols which enable parties to achieve certain security objectives. Remind that a protocol (or a scheme) is a suite of procedures that tell each party what to do, which are usually computer algorithms. Cryptographers devise and analyze protocols under attack model, where one consider assumptions about the resources and actions available to the adversary: we assume what the adversary can do and cannot do against the system. So, a good practice for everyone in studying cryptography and the art of building a secure system is to develop a way of thinking as an adversary; thus, we can foresee bad intentions and discover weaknesses in a system and potentially consequent wrongdoings. Cryptanalysis is the study of mathematical techniques for attempting to defeat information security services While Cryptography is about constructing secure systems, Cryptanalysis is about breaking systems, that is against what one do in the former field. Of course, cryptanalysis is not just for bad intents. In fact, good cryptanalysis of a system will tell us what inside a system can be a weakness, i.e. a security hole, so could be a target for adversaries. Therefore, cryptanalysis provides us with lessons to learn to build systems towards the strongest possible security. Therefore, we still have the combination  Cryptology as the study of both cryptography and cryptanalysis. Basic terms We discuss some basic terms about the story of encryption – the foundation of anything in cryptography.
