Exam cheating causes and effects
Exam cheating refers to the situation whereby students fraudulently breaks exam room rules with the aim of achieving higher marks for a better
overall result or finishing a course or program quickly. Every institution has explicit exam rules which must be adhered to. It is however unfortunate
since some students tend to break these rules so as to achieve better grades. Exam cheating has its causes and effects. There are various ways in
which students cheat. For instance some students take their notes into the exam room, others ask their friends for the answers through whispering
while the exam is in progress and other students behave like giraffes for they copy the answers of their classmates sitting in front of them. Exam
cheating is also a booming business for some people since some students will pay them so as to do the exam on their behalf.

The act of exam cheating has its propeller or causes and effects
There are three major reasons as to why some students engage in exam cheating. Some of the students will tend to cheat in exams because they are
afraid of failure, others have no ability and others just like to take the exam cheating risks. Being afraid of failure is perceived as the most vital reason
as to why students engage in exam cheating. This is because some students think that a lot of problems will come beckoning incase of exam failure.
Some of the perceived problems are parents who always complaining every time a student has acquired poor exam grades. Other students are afraid
because they fear that due to exam failure some of the friends and relatives will laugh and look down at them. Other students are afraid because they
assume that exam failure will result into dark educational futures. As mentioned earlier some students cheat in exams because they have no ability.
This is because they lack individual self confidence when facing the exams and other students cannot do because it may be too difficult. Other
students have these self imposed ideologies where they believe that they are not smart enough to pass the exams. Due to these ideologies, these
students tend to stay idle instead of working hard and therefore choosing to cheat in the exams. As earlier mentioned some students will cheat in an

As earlier mentioned some students will cheat in an
exam with the aim of taking risks. For example some students will use cheating as a sign of show off to their friends since they believe that this exam
cheating is cool and challenging.
Academic dishonesty is perceived as a very serious problem which has very severe consequences that can bring in long lasting effects on ones
academics and career. For example some students are humiliated once caught cheating. This is because a student can put on academic probation
and which may be accompanied by a written essay explaining the motivation for the cheating and apologies. The probation may come to an end one
day but it leaves the scar academic shame since the student's instructors perceive him or her as unethical for behaving so dishonestly. Again exam
cheatings can result into a damaged individual academic record. These damaged academic records are tiresome to rebuild since the student will have
to work harder so as to redeem himself and prove his honesty as a student. Academic dishonesty can lead to the ruining or delaying of the student's
career and eventually the professional carrier. This is because the universities have explicit rules which advocate for a zero tolerance to academic
dishonesty. It is however so unfortunate because some students still believe they can flout about with these rules and that is why they are always
caught on the act. The mistake of breaking these rules is not taken lightly and therefore students are always punished accordingly. These academic
punishments range from fractions to the complete expulsion of the student from the institution. Sometimes the students may even be forced to take
the class over especially where the academic dishonest is punishable by a zero test.
Students exam cheating tends to bring about negative attitudes which always result in to negative effects. For example many students who are prone
to cheating pay much less attention to class work because they always have planned methods on how to cheat on the upcoming exam. Cheating
students always find interest in scheming about how they will cheat and on the other hand they lose the interest of academics. Other students will also
show the non- caring attitude of a lazy student by coming to the class late and even sleeping when the instructor is tutoring. This negative kind of
mannerisms will mean that the student will not learn anything. The parents just like the students lose a lot of money due to academic cheating. This is
because some students are expelled leaving the already paid school fees to waste and again the school transfers can sometimes be expensive
because it means complete start over. Students who graduate from schools or universities by cheating face the long term consequence of facing the
job challenges and specification because they didn't acquired the required expertise that can assist them in handling all the activities according to
specifications.
Cheating doesn't only affect the students who are prone to cheating and their parents but it also affects the students who are always working hard to
achieve higher grades. This is because cheating unfairly gives advantages to cheaters and makes it harder for the honest students to achieve higher
grades. Cheating has also some negative effects to the faculties. This is because the faculties are distracted from their teaching and researching
duties due to the fact that they are inconvenienced by cheating due to the time taken in the process of identifying and rectifying the problem.
